EO® Introduces All Purpose Soap!

One thing that solves all your problems. This is the stuff dreams are made of really, isn't it? Yes.

This week I put EO all purpose soap in the dishwasher, laundry, bathroom sink, and shower and I can happily say all of my worldly goods are chemical-free and clean. Have not yet been brave enough to wash my apples with it but apparently it does wonders for fruit as well. Note to EO: can you please work on an all purpose man, career, money cure?
Available in Lavender, Meyer Lemon, and Peppermint. Enjoy!

Healthy Hair = Hot Hair: EO

In March of '08 when I walked into my very first celeb stylist appointment (where they invited me to come rather than me begging for their next available in like 2012) the shampoo girl was floored at the vibrant health of my hair. "I've only used EO's organic shampoo for two years," I truthfully told her. Little was I to know, that was the last sulfate-free breath these locks would take for 18 months. In the name of beauty editor duty I happily began testing all kinds of delightful, effective (but not organic) shampoo. Sometime last year my little neighborhood Whole Foods stopped carrying my EO conditioner, thus extinguishing any final attempts at organic hair care.

Meantime, my locks have been unruly and (except for when I visit my new hair boyfriend Neven) unsightly. Alas, my hair nightmare is over. EO has (finally!) redesigned and relaunched their entire look and my hair is building its way back to optimal organic health. After two paraben-free shampoos - no frizz, just happy healthy curls. Even my most oblivious male office mates today inquired "Are you going somewhere after work? You look different." EO. Love.

Breast-Friendly Pink Products from EO

Supporting breast cancer research with our purchases in October is beneficial but only if those products aren't potentially giving us breast cancer in the process, no? I've decided this year to only support pink products that are not packed with carcinogens. No more than 10 percent of breast cancers are genetic, and science points to toxic chemicals and radiation as factors in the sharp rise of breast cancer incidence. Luckily we have the option of companies like EO producing healthier alternatives.

So this October, when I buy my usual EO products at Whole Foods, I'll make sure and add one or two of their lovely pink label products to my basket. Check out more on their full range of pink products and enjoy!

Beauty's Product RAVE: EO Holiday - Love, Peace, and Sleep.

Oh my god. Oh my GOD. Once in a while as a beauty blogger phenomenal things happen. I met the most amazing designer, Alexis Lamontagna, chatted with Angelina's mane man Ted Gibson, sat at Estee Lauder's desk, and (equally as amazing) EO just contacted ME.

A bit of hair-history: until a short sighted product manager at the Whole Foods in North Carolina stopped carrying EO, it was the ONLY thing I put in my hair for three years. In fact during my first visit to Warren Tricomi the health of my hair astounded the staff and all I had to say for myself was, "These locks have only touched organics since 2005. "

Note: if you are of blood relation to me and would like to be surprised at Christmas I recommend skipping to the next post right now. The sometimes seductive sampler sets come in three packages, Love, Peace, and Nighty Night. Each includes a frothy bubble bath bundled with a combination of soy massage candles (I have never heard of a massage candle but knowing the healing powers of EO's scents, I'm purchasing one immediately) bath salts, room sprays and body lotions. Pick your passion below.

Beauty Fortuity: from product purgatory to serendipitous cosmetic cure

Maybe it's because I went to Montessori School. Maybe it's because I'm just defiant by nature. But my belligerence is finally paying off. If not for me in a life enhancing way, then for you in a product recycling kind of way. I have hinted before at my tendency to use products for purposes other than those they were intended for. In the beauty industry this is a major no-no. Scientists and researchers are paid lots and lots of money to test the precise percentages of cellulite reduced, or lashes extended, or wrinkles reduced.

But I would never have found some of my favorite products if I had discarded them upon discovering that in terms of their intended purpose they are total losers. And isn't this the great dream for every woman's product graveyard? That someday you will serendipitously discover that though these products failed at their intended purpose, they are perfectly suited for a function no where near the neighborhood of their actual function (and then all of that beauty money isn't really wasted?) So Beauty's Spot has a new column - Beauty Fortuity!

First up, EO Hair Repair. It does nothing for my hair and smells like toilet bowl cleaner but it's organic and made by one of my favorite lines, EO. They make my favorite body lotion and shampoo. My hair is the litness test for any hair product. Unless a hair product is designed to penetrate hair as tough and thick as Rapunzel's it is not going to work for me. But I kept this adorable purple little bottle in the shower, suspecting all the while that someday those high quality organic ingredients would find their calling. It's been inhabiting the purgatory section of my shower caddy since December when I received it as a birthday gift from one of my favorite people. I had no idea what it's purpose would be until voila, the Schick Quattro arrived and suddenly a girl who hadn't needed shaving cream in years (thanks to the brilliant design of the Schick Intuition) was suddenly at a loss. We have all heard to use conditioner as shaving cream in case of an emergency but it's usually clumpy, clogging up the razor and making my legs feel greasy. Yuck. Suddenly the purple little little bottle which had been shunned like an ill suited Rudolf had found its foggy night. Intensive reconditioning. Essential oils of Wild Lime and Ginger. Mango Seed Butter. My legs drank it up as if it were divine nectar. The consistency is perfectly designed for razors because it slips right through, no clogging and it is super conditioning for the legs with no grease. Enjoy!

EO Grapefruit Mint Body Lotion

When I was little I was certain my mom was crazy. (Sorry ma) I mean the Santa Claus thing sounded a little nutty, the Easter bunny sounded completely whacked out, and she carried lotion in her purse. The whole adult thing just seemed off to me. Now I'm an adult and I have just recently started carrying lotion in my purse. I justify what was once a very odd-seeming behavior by saying that I have found the best body lotion ever. It's organic, made in the US, comes in adorable, neatly-packaged, purple bottles, and in about 5 seconds can turn my boss into a peach of a woman, my desk into a lovely hunk of metal, and my car into a serene little pod driving up and down the country roads of lovely Orange County, North Carolina. What I'm saying is, not just any lotion gets the purse treatment. EO (Essential Oils) makes body lotion, my favorite shampoo, hand soap, and every other product from hand wipes to perfume to foot lotion. My organic flavor of choice is the Grapefruit and Mint Body Lotion. The ingredient list is long but includes organic chamomile flowers, aloe, white tea, calendula flowers, and mango seed butter. Also for those of you who are as obsessed with organic products as I am, or even just beauty products in general, their ingredient glossary can be used as a lay man's bible. It smells like instant heaven and the cream itself is thick but not suffocating. After a few minutes I could forget I have it on all together were it not for the ambrosial scent.
