Estee Lauder's New Vivid Garden Summer Color Collection
Estée Lauder introduces Vivid Garden - a fairytale-like limited edition color collection for summer 2009. Warm temperatures and sunny days call for a festive garden tea party. Set in a delightfully feminine garden of blooming flowers in shades of pinks and purples, delectable petit-fours and decadent layer cakes iced in fanciful butterfly and bloom designs are passed on shining silver trays as guests enjoy a selection of delightful elixir teas. An atmosphere of fresh airiness
abounds with guests dressed in softly flowing dresses with youthful expressions of color in
unordinary combinations. I'd like to live in this Vivid Garden. This collection is stunning and accented with adorable details like the dragonfly in the center of the compact's color pallet.

Angelina Jolie at The Oscars - Hair by David Babaii
Kevin Mancuso Creates Natalie Portman's Look at the Oscars
Get the Look:
Step 1: Apply a volumizing styler to the roots, like Nexxus Root Exxtend, to add body into the hair. Distribute a medium-hold mousse, such as Nexxus Mousse Plus, throughout hair to and maintain and support the structure of the style. More modern updos employ product instead of teasing to build body, for a softer, healthier look. Blow dry hair with a large round brush, concentrating on the ends to smooth the hair.
Step 2: After drying, use a medium sized curling iron throughout the hair to create uneven waves and set the shape around the face. Once curled, create side part and pull hair back and away from the face. Then, take various sized sections of the curled hair and twist and pin back to create the updo. Insert an elegant, decorative pin above the updo to draw attention to the intricate details of the style.
Step 3: Finish look with a light-weight hairspray, like Nexxus Comb Thru, to help secure the style throughout the evening.

J'Adore L'Oreal EverPure: Go Ahead Say it En France
Sounds better in French, no? Still in English or French L'Oreal's EverPure, a completely sulfate-free color care system that frees your hair from harsh sulfates is, universally, to die for. This coming from a woman who only let organics touch her hair for three whole years. I've been testing EverPure Moisture Rich Shampoo and Conditioner for a month now and I honestly LOVE them EverPure has seen me through my most dramatic haircut in years, completely revitalized my scalp, and calmed my skin which is usually completely irritated from a Sulfate allergy. Also at a six to seven dollar price point this highly concentrated formula goes a long way in lean times. As if that'as not enough to stock your CVS tote with, because L'Oreal removed sulfates, surfactants and salts that can strip and dull your hair you may notice (as I did) a slightly richer color emerging, even in untreated hair. This may be due in part to EverPure's unique UVA and UVB filters which help protect hair from UV rays. Available February 2009 at www.lorealparis.com and chain drug, food and mass market retailers nationwide for suggested retail prices of $6.99 and $8.99 for individual products.

Catherine Malandrino's Escapism at Fashion Week
While the beauty look at the Catherine Malandrino Fall 2009 fashion show isn’t what you’d want to whip up for a Saturday night, the inspiration behind it is, well, inspirational.
“Her clothes this season are based on the Surrealist movement,” explains makeup artist Tom Pecheux. It was an era of escapism, fantasy, optimism, newness and the unexpected, and while we are all caught up in our own economic meltdown, this show was about escaping to a more beautiful, fantasy place.
“The makeup is a modern interpretation of the optical effects of a Man Ray photograph,” says Pecheux who used MAC cosmetics.
The liner isn’t on her lashlines, but in her crease, giving her eye a different dimension. Her hair was also otherworldly. “I colored 90 extensions to create this unexpected mix of hair colors. For blondes, I used shades of platinum, champagne, mint and lavender.
“For brunettes, I mixed a cool violet with warm caramel,” says hair colorist Eva Scrivo who worked with Wella haircolor. Hairstylist Odile Gilbert created a chignon that could reside at the MOMA. “It’s almost modern art, a very abstract chignon. The fishnet gives it a bit of mystery and the shape is sort of like a hat, but its hair,” she says. Frederic Fekkai Partners With Dennis Basso for Truely DIY-Friendly Hair
“I wanted to give the hair some guts” Rodman said. The look is easily mimicked at home. Rodman created a center part and then scrunched the hair dry with a diffuser. He took a curling iron, 1 ½ inch round to curl the hair. He then added the Fekkai Coiff™ Nonchalant Piecing & Forming Wax to add texture to the hair, and completed the look with the Fekkai Au Natural Dry Shampoo to create a matte finish.

Stephanie Flor's Bold Eyes at Geren Ford
"The makeup was very smoked out on the lid. We wanted to add depth and inner darkness to the flawless face. Using airbrush foundation we were able to achieve the most natural coat which gave us the freedom to focus on the eyes and create a seduction of blending the blacks. The lips were nude in color and the eyebrows were concealed with a lighter foundation using a brow brush. Cheeks were left natural with only contour as the separation on the cheeks."
Powder: Tzone Makeup Forever Super Matte Loose Powder and then your finishing spray on the face
Blush/Contour: Very light Tarte Blush in Perfect Whirled
Eyeliner: Jet Set Smashbox Midnight Black Eyeliner and Urban Decay Kohl Liner for lower rim
Brows: Tarte Light, Meduim, Dark Eyebrow Tool Box
Mascara: Maybelline Lash Blast ( The orange one ) Upper and lower lid.
Foundation: OCC Airbrush Cosmetics
Eyeshadow: Ironic in OCC
Lashes: 311 Black lashes and Dou Glue

NARS - Soft & Smoky at Thakoon
Nars makeup artist Diane Kendal created a look "that felt of ease but that also was a little bit rock 'n roll." Eyes were done using a reddish-brown pencil all around that was then smudged out. Black liner was applied close to the upper and lower lashline and no mascara was used. Brows were dark and thick and skin was made dewy with a light foundation and a coral powder blush on the apples of cheeks. Kendal wanted to keep the focus on the eyes, so lips were muted with lip balm and concealer.
Topping off the look were dreamy and slightly disheveled asymmetric buns. They had a deep, slicked-over side part and a flurry of baby's breath frizzies surrounding the actual bun in back.

MAC at Nicole Miller!
First, Marine Ultra Paint Stick was applied all over the the lid and up into creases. Next, a lighter Freshwater Eye Shadow was placed on the center of the eyelid and under the lashline. Finally, a deep Atlantic Blue Eye Shadow was swept in crease for depth.
"Nicole Miller's show has an 80's vibe, so we could have gone heavier on the cheeks and lips, but for the look to be modern, we kept it simple," explained Kaliardos. The skin was warmed up with the Hello Kitty MAC Tahitian Sun Pressed Powder. Cheekbones were defined with a taupe contouring blush and lips looked healthy and natural thanks to Lilicent Blushcreme, a warm peachy hue. United Bamboo. Shiseido. Fashion Week.
To create the smoldering rich-girl gaze, Page blended gold cream shadow all around the eye, then added brown liner close to the lashline. He then traced over the gold with a dark green shadow, creating a multi-faceted smoky eye that was both dramatic and special.
There were only sixteen girls walking in the show, so Page did the strong brows on each model himself. Skin was fresh with a touch of soft contouring to add warmth, while lips were coated with a pinky beige lipstick for a subtle finishing touch.
To balance out the dramatic eye, hair was kept simple and natural. Shiseido stylist Hirofumi Kera blew hair out straight, then used a large barrel curling iron to delicately curl under the ends of hair. The result was a naturally textured style that was fresh and tidy without looking too perfect or "done." Thanks to the lovelies at DailyMakeover.com for all the deets! Stars like Rihanna and Paris Hilton take it all off -- their hair that is |
It's no surprise that so many stars opt for super short bobs and pixie cuts. Aside from being low-maintenance, a short style puts more focus on the face and adds more attitude to their overall look. Check out which celebrities make cropped hair look gorgeous... and tempting. (If you feel the urge to reach for the scissors after viewing their photos, we highly recommend you get a professional to do the cutting.) |
